Happy 50th Anniversary Sonny -n- Ruth!!

Oct. 24, 2009 was Sonny and Ruth's 50th Wedding Anniversary. It is not so common nowadays being married 50 years, but they have made it look easy. I know that it takes an effort to have a marriage that last for that long. Thanks Ruth and Sonny for being an example to us younger ones! We wanted to plan a party for them but Sonny and Ruth both said they didn't want anything. So we decided to take a ice cream cake Sunday evening. Judy's and Keith's couldn't make it and dad's were in Flordia- so it was just the rest of us.

Here's the happy couple...Sonny and Ruth!

Flordia Trip

On Sunday Judy, Karen, Kyann and I flew to Florida to paint at Mom and Dad's house. Mom has been talking about painting since they bought the house back in 2001, the old paint was a flat paint and you couldn't wash it clean, so we decide to go down a couple days and do it.
We started Monday painting the ceilings, doors, trim and closets. Then Tuesday we did the walls all through the house except the bathroom. Our goal was to have all the paint done by Tuesday night, about 3 o'clock I didn't think there was any way that would happen, but we got it all finished except for part of one wall in the little bedroom that we couldn't get to because the room was so small we had to move everything to one side and paint then wait for it to dry before we could do the other wall. We didn't stop for lunch or supper, just ate on the run! We met Sue's family at Big Olfa's for ice cream at 7:00pm that night to see all the little ones.
So on Wednesday we finished the painting and started putting everything back and cleaning the place up, we had pretty well wrecked it up til that point! We got done and headed to the outlet malls at 2:00pm for a little shopping therapy! We met Dad and Mom at Sweet Tomatoes for a yummy supper, then Judy and Karen went Target, but Kyann and I went back home with dad's to crash!
Thursday morning Mom made a breakfast casserole and fruit for breakfast and Sue, Charla and Hayden came over to eat with us and visit for awhile. Then at 12:30pm we headed to the airport and flew out at 3:55pm. We got home about 8:45pm.

Enjoy the pics...............

Aunt Sue came to see us everyday to check on the progress...so glad you came over Sue...always good to see you!!!!
Grandma and Kyann.....Charla and Hayden....
Sue brought over one of her toys for Kyann to play with.....
Grandma and Kyann spending some time out side......
Grandpa taking his turn babysitting....they rode bike over to the park to swing and slide, Kyann soon knew all she had to do was grab grandpas hand and grunt and he did pretty well what she wanted!!

In the tub......
Kyann talked to her dad several times a day.....when he talked to her she would shake her head like she was answering him!!! One time she was laughing and shaking her head then suddenly she started crying and Karen asked Calvin what he told her...he said "I told her to give the phone back to mom!!" She knew exactly what he had said and wasn't very happy about it!! Amazing how they understand at such a young age.
Well it was a short but good trip.....always fun to be with family, I wish Jan could have been there with us, but she didn't think she could take off work. Hopefully we can go down soon for a vacation and enjoy it!!

Blue Chip Conference 10.10.2009

Saturday was the last x-country meet for the season. It was the Blue Chip Conference held at the Gasthof. It had rained a lot and it was very wet and muddy. I told Jeremy on the way down that every ones times will probably be slower because of the mud...but I was wrong!! Jeremy beat his personal record again with a time of 10:52, cutting his time by 13 seconds. He came in 8th place. The JV Team were runner-ups to South Knox as a team.

Happy B-Day Grandpa Kemp

We celebrated Dads birthday last night...we had german chocolate cake, homemade ice cream, sausage bread and stuffed mushrooms. It is hard to find a night that everyone can make it anymore now that 8 out of the 14 grandkids are teenagers, it seems someone always has practice of some kind, a game or working.......

Indiana Middle School State Championship 10.03.2009

We headed to Carmel Saturday for the Indiana Middle School State Meet. It was a cold windy day, but thankfully the rain held off. It was a long day for the kids, leaving B-R at 6:30 am and getting home at 6:45 pm. The boys team came in 4th place out of 31 teams and Jeremy came in 54th out of 229 runners with a time of 11:28. He was disappointed that he didn't do as well as he planned to, I'm sure it didn't help that he was coughing and congested. Hopefully he will be over it by Thursday night for the meet at the Gashtof.

229 runners are off! There were so many it was hard to pick out the B-R kids........
At the beginning of the race.....Receiving the trophies.......
